Studio Arts Intensive
SAI
Introducing the newly reimagined Studio Arts Intensive (SAI) program! Gage Academy of Art welcomed its new Director of Programming, Antonio Pulgarín in the winter of 2021 and since his arrival, he & his team have dreamed up a revitalized new SAI program that you do NOT want to miss starting in September. Antonio has brought a fresh new look and perspective to all of our programs and his team has worked tirelessly to develop a unique and innovative program that combines a broad range of studio courses with newly designed courses that place emphasis on extensive mentorship and portfolio development. This year-round program was thoughtfully crafted and empowers students to develop strong skill-sets and further refine their artistic practices.
“In Klara’s guidance of our discussions, she helped to increase our ability to look at artworks more deeply and critically. I really appreciate Klara’s ability to comment on my work both on a technical and conceptual level.” -Nan Herbert
Small class sizes ensure an intimate cohort experience and a class setting which fosters one-on-one instructional time. The first half of the program begins with a focus on developing foundational skills in drawing, painting (both traditional and digital), and sculpture and then broadens your skill sets even further with printmaking, abstraction, collage, and watercolor. The majority of the learning takes place in the studio through the personalized guidance of the teaching artists. The latter half of the program focuses deeply on both portfolio and professional development. Students will receive feedback on their work from leading professionals in the field; which includes curators, gallerists, and current exhibiting artists.
Teaching artists in this year’s SAI program represent the highest standards of professionalism, creativity and artistic pedagogy. Under their guidance, YOU will find inspiration, support and community while building foundational skills, & developing techniques and best practices to serve you as you navigate a career in the arts. At the culmination of the program, SAI graduates will exhibit their final works with one of our partner galleries and receive a certificate of completion.
All applicants will be thoroughly reviewed so please submit a portfolio or art sample with your application.
